TOM VANGENEUGDEN

Tom is een Belgisch Olympisch zwemmer. Hij specialiseerde zich in de lange afstanden en is de huidig Belgisch Recordhouder op de 800 en 1500 meter borstcrawl.

Over Tom

Hij behaalde twee finales tijdens Europese Kampioenschappen en zwom op Wereldkampioenschappen en de Olympische Spelen van Peking 2008.

Begin 2012 besloot Tom om zijn zwemcarrière te beëindigen. In 2015 sloot hij aan bij het team van Personal Swimming. Tom werkt naast zijn lessen en clinics bij Personal Swimming bij Under Armour.

Mooiste zwemherinnering

“Ik heb veel mooie herinneringen aan het zwemmen, niet alleen in het water maar ook daarbuiten. De race waar ik het meest aan terugdenk is echter de 4×100 meter wisselslag estafette tijdens de Olympische Spelen in Londen 2012. Daar stonden we in een prachtige finale tegen onder andere grootmachten als Amerika, Engeland, Australië.”

Favoriete oefening: Single-Arm-Drill Dubbele Uitduw

“Dit is echt een prachtige oefening. Ik zwom veel langere afstanden en het eerste waar je dan gaat merken dat je vermoeid raakt, is de uitduw van je borstcrawl. Het laatste stukje van je doorhaal naar achteren toe wordt onder vermoeidheid moeilijker en moeilijker om af te maken.
